England's Barmy Army Colts U17s have just returned from a very succesful tour of India and Sri Lanka having won 4 games and lost 6 against very strong opposition.
The highlight of the tour was the victory in Hassan, India infront of over 3,000 supporters. (Please see photo gallery). The Tour started in Negombo, Sri Lanka v Maristella College. Maristella College won by 67 runs at the FTZ. MCollege 238 All out. S Helm 3-38, D Shah 3-45. BAColts 171 All out. S Hawley 31, T Helm 47, E Wharton 19. Next game v

The last game of the ten match Tour was played at the magnificent Singhalese Sports Club (SCC) which is a Test match venue v the Colombo Colts Select X1. The BAColts showed what great improvements had been gained as individuals and as a side by being on a Tour like this. The experiance of playing with and against good cricketers and the knowledge gained by listening and learning from various experianced Sri Lankan, Indian coaches and BAColts Manager/Coach Mark Stear enabled them to bowl and field to a very high standard. The tour was organised by Mark Stear, Butterfly Vacations, Paradise Travel and the World Cricket Academy who were the Ground Handling agents.

Directors Mark Stear and founder of the Barmy Army Paul Burnham travelled from Heathrow Airport with 13 BAColts to Abu Dhabi and Dubai for 8 days on Friday 23rd October with Emirates Airlines to play 5 matches v local opposition. The first game was at the Zayed Cricket stadium on Sunday 25th October starting at 3pm. D/N match. Darren Gough attended with his son Liam who played well in the game. The BAColts were led by Toby Adams from Suffolk CCC in what was a great experiance. This was the third trip to the UAE and Arabian Cricket Ltd were again the Tour organisers. The Tour party consisted of players from several counties Bucks, Herts, Surrey and Middlesex and also included opening bat Henry Day from Gloucestershire. Two matches were won, three matches lost including one by 3 runs and one by 14 runs.

Barmy Army Colts had a fantastic day at Farnham Common CC on Sun May 24th with the U12s and U15s having good victories. The games were followed by a luncheon in a marquee sitting 170 people. Fund raising by Duncan Norris for Farnham Common CC and the BAColts was very succesful and this was followed by the BACC losing to a Rep team in a 20/20 at 3pm. Well organised event and was one of 4 BAColts Roadshows this Summer.

Barmy Army Colts U15s travelled by minibus to Shrewsbury School on Sunday April 19th and arrived at 11am to play on the magnificent 1st X1 ground. Will Hughes and Andy Barnard help run the cricket at the school and the Barmy Army Colts hope to play them again in Perth, Australia Dec 2010! The Barmy Army who had a strong side batted slowly against accurate bowling and only Connor Emerton 47, George Stear 29 and
Ben Marsh 20 contributed decent scores. Shrewsbury School bowled well and got the
Barmy Army Colts out for 127. Harry Podmore from Ealing CA and Middx CCC U15s took two early wickets and troubled the batsmen with his accuracy, bounce and pace.
Rishi Batra bowled good controlled leg spin and the Barmy Army Colts all bowled and fielded well with good spirit. Shrewsbury school batsmen Lewis and Jones contributed 50 each but found it hard work and this resulted in a good early season work out for all who took part. Beautiful sunny day.
A youthful Barmy Army Midlands X1 played Pelsall CC 2nd X1 in a 40 over match on the same day at Pelsall CC. The Barmy Army batted first and scored 178-3. Aadil Ali 14yrs from Leics CCC scored a magnificent 100no. Elliott Lawley contributed 23. Pelsall CC struggled againgst the accurate bowling of the Colts and only scored 111. 8 a side Tournament won by Barmy Army Colts Australia which was for ALL ages and started at 10am. Four teams in coloured clothing. Great finish to the season.
The BARMY ARMY COLTS Tournament at Stowe School in August 2008 was interrupted by rain but was enjoyed by 48 boys who attended the five days. Fantastic venue proved to help when the cricket was not on.
Good food provided by the school.
Basil Akram scored a good 100 and A.Ali and George Stear, D.Harding and J.Coleman scored 50s. The Tournament will be repeated in 2009. See pictures in picture gallery.

'Barmy Army Colts Midlands' was launched on the 6th April. Colts attended Alderbrook School in Solihull for a Net/Training session and then the Colts and parents went to Knowle and Dorridge CC where the concept was promoted by Mark Stear and Kevin Jeffries. There will be fixtures during this Summer at U14/15 level in the Midlands including games against Northants and Yorkshire CCC.
